'Square
Circular Fusion'

Brewitz begins the sculpture design process by
sketching his ideas. He then utilizes software
tools to develop technical CADD drawings.
Fabricating
the sculpture requires plasma cutter to cut the
stainless steel to exact computer drawing
dimensions. Once the sculpture is cleaned,
polished and assembled, the elements are balanced
by strategically removing steel.
The
technique allows the artist to precisely balance
the work while the brushed finish is applied. The
task is a tricky proposition at best.
The
top left photo was snapped as the sculpture was
alive with motion. The next photo shows how the
work aligns itself at rest. The bottom image is
the drawing used to fabricate the angular motion
elements of the piece.
