Play Golf, Minnesota
In 1995 there was really no state based golf magazine for anyone in Minnesota, unless you belonged to the MGA. While I am a member, the reality is that far more players are not members than are. For that reason, I decided to launch Golf Minnesota as a printed publication, always with an eye to the future and electronic communication. Today, you can get your most up-to-date information from us with this printed publication, on our website, golfminnesota.com, or you can follow us on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook. Whatever the medium, it is my commitment to continue to bring you the latest and most informative Minnesota golf information.
You will see all 15 years of our front covers on the page facing this one. Throughout the magazine you will see a number of photos and images we have printed throughout the years. We tell you the year they were first printed along with a brief description. Kind of a walk down memory lane for us and a sense of pride for accomplishing what we have.
We have never been affiliated with a group or organization, but we have always had terrific support from the major players in the Minnesota golf industry. I encourage you to patronize the businesses that advertise with us. They make our work possible and for that I am forever grateful.
There are several regional golf magazines around the country and we are pleased to have been recognized with industry awards the last couple of years, as a testament to the quality of our work. While I never got into this industry for recognition, it is nice to know there are people who like what we do.
As always, we give you a very real payback for purchasing our book. I sometimes joke that we publish a coupon book wrapped in a magazine. While I don’t think that is true, there are some excellent savings on golf in our center insert, Player Advantage Card. Use these coupons, try some new courses and get some serious savings.
I do hope you will consider following us on Twitter and Facebook, as we expect to announce exciting events and options in Minnesota golf. The publishing industry is no doubt going through significant changes at this point in time. For reasons far beyond Golf Minnesota, I hope it doesn’t go away. But if it does diminish drastically in the coming years, know that Golf Minnesota® will still be there in some form or another. For now, enjoy this edition and get out there - play. Golf Minnesota! - Golf Minnesota.
